Pic Description: |
This is a recent Rendo freebie, intended for DS but has OBJ+MTL.
https://www.renderosity.com/freestuff/items/94116/big-stone-mound
Description claims, ''A low resolution \"Polycam\" prop of two large decorative stones and the ground immediately surrounding them...\"
However, OBJ supplied is ~130 MB (!!!), with three nice 8k ~20 MB JPG textures...
I used free Irfan View to re-size the textures to 2k ~1.5 MB, ran OBJ through Atangeo's ($$) Balancer. I have the free, but registered non-commercial version. No watermarks, fair complexity limit.
OBJ loads with this size at default 100% scale. Turn Poser''s ground-plane off, adjust prop''s XYZ down a dozen feet to bring figure to surface...
At 5% ~ 8MB, mesh was a bit too ''gappy'', At 15% ~20 MB, mesh crashed my ageing twin GPU cards, needed CPU rendering. Still some gaps, but looked ''seriously scary'' with a violet light inside.
10% ~15 MB with ''entire hierarchy'' looked better...
The ''Ominous Glow'' ?? I tried with a Poser Light set to ''point'', it just looked wrong. Pic''s effect is Poser primitive ''box'' dialled to ''super-ambient''. |
