Pic Description: Thought some folks may like to see an old M-46 Tank, with a 90mm main gun. It also had two thirty caliber machine guns and one fifty caliber machine gun. The fifty was mounted at the tank commander's hatch. This is D-15, my tank while in Korea. I was tank commander of D-15 for about fifteen months. I was in the first platoon of Dog Company, 6th Tank Battalion. We were attached to the 24th Division and our Company in particular was at times attached to a British Commonwealth Brigade. That was a long time ago and what seems like a million miles away. In this photo we were letting some infantry guys hitch a ride. You can see the mist from the engine heat, it was early winter when this photo was taken by an Army news photographer.

Thanks for stopping by, Nex. If you'd like to see some action pictures of my outfit in Korea, go to my site. On the homepage, click the 'Graphics' button. When the main graphics page comes up, scroll down and click the link for The 6th Tank Battalion. I have two pages for The 6th Tank Battalion. The second page is all photos, so click the 'next' button at the bottom of the first page. Again... thanks for stopping by and for your comments.

Ciao,
Phil

Two wrongs don't make a right.
But six left turns will get you around the block
and back in the driveway again.

Good to see another pic from the past.

My dad never had many pictures from WWII when he fought in
Belgium and Holland with the Canadian Army.
My uncle was a U.S. Marine in WWII and was in the Pacific Theatre.
I have his service record which was passed down to me after my father died. My uncle Phillip had a stint on BB-45 USS Colorado.

My thanks to all for viewing and for your comments. It's good to know that events of the past, to some degree, are not forgotten. No desire to have parades to welcome us home, just a few words at present to say, "Hey... I remember that." The greatest sight to me, was when the Throop ship came within sight of the lights along the Straight, coming into port in Seattle. Amazing feeling to see those street lights and headlights from vehicles moving along the roads bordering the Straight, a feeling that I'll never forget. Funny how you don't really appreciate something until you have to do without it.

Hey Buddy I only hitched a ride on a tank -once, in the Army. So many guys (pushing) and I fell off the back of the Tank... Oh Boy, did that hurt cos of the M-60 I had on my back! But the Tank guys were great . In real life Tanks are just scarry. I'd feel them coming before I'd see one. Their power is AWSOME, and they'll sure save you.

Glad you lived to tell the tale.

I've found that to do well with any figure you really need to have a passion for that figure,

...and I hope you develop that passion for yours.
