First attempt at making a portrait here.........
I have the camera set at 100mm
1 spotlight with shadow 2 normall lights without
foreground color black (does this even matter?)
and I used depth cubing (that's kinda iffy too.....)
I know I need to make a Bump map so is there
any other tricks, tips, pointers or comments.......

I agree, a little bit more light in the scene would help.
About your question: there are so many ways to answer, that I'd like to know more about how you invision the portrait, before I can make any suggestions. You may have given yourself the most useful advice... "Keep On Posen"; that's the trick to knowing what you want & getting it from Poser.

She looks nice maovin ! For the tips you should use a bigger map for the front light, try 512 or 1024, the shadow of the hair looks too blurred on the body incomparison with the "lightness" of the picture.
