Pic Description: \"Nothing to see here...\"

Another RE2 re-creation, by ''Blood Wraith'', uploaded as an SCG freebie by Richard Mandel. More info on link.

The OBJ was only a ~2.9 MB file, but I''d been avoiding it because I could not see any lights beyond a small one over the door. Without windows, I''d have trouble lighting scene.

On closer inspection with ($$) 3DOC, I realised there were ten unfamiliar pendant lights with ''funnel'' shades. These were not split into ''lamp'' and ''the rest'', so texture would need masking. I didn''t recognise the ''over door'' lamp either. I also made a note of which part was the double-doors.

After making a safety copy then editing the OBJ''s MTLLIB call in free Wordpad, I loaded it to Poser at the usual RE2 ~30% scaling. There''s not much work-space in the scene, so I dialled the double-doors'' material to ''transparent'', shortened the camera''s focal length.

A quick superfly test-render showed my first mask for the pendant lights left the scene much too dim. Second was plausible, and still bright enough after I halved its super-ambiance. Set Superfly, progressive, 96 pixel samples, 64 vol-bounces, 64 buckets, sent job to ''Box''. Render took ~2 hours.

I''ll post the pendants'' masks in comments.

Not as good as I'd hoped, but I'd spent much of afternoon gardening, ran out of time.

If I feel brave enough, I'll 'rip' the pendant lights' module from main OBJ, try to create stand-alone lamps to be lit more authentically.

I like how the pose makes her appear to be in wonderment of where she is.

Great work as usual.

I've found that to do well with any figure you really need to have a passion for that figure,

...and I hope you develop that passion for yours.

I'm slowly assembling a more event-appropriate outfit for LaF, but finding a distinctive 'OC' look that sufficiently shuns Barbie, Private Benjamin, Lara Croft, CatWoman, Nikita etc etc (All TMs respected !!) is proving difficult...

FWIW, Richard Mandel has announced that he's getting out of the 3D modelling / porting scene, to concentrate on writing and crafting comics etc. Fortunately, he has a vast back-catalog of SCG freebies, which I've begun to strip-mine.

After honing my wits +skills on these RE2 scenes, I hope to tackle a bunch of less-friendly RE 1.5 rooms, also the many higher-poly RE3 and side-quest rooms. At least 'Box' lets me render such complex scenes at acceptable speed...

Have isolated pendant lights from main OBJ using Wordpad.

FWIW, my first mask, with the tiny light-source, is the correct one. I should have super-dialled it brighter.

Hit a strange problem: After I've deleted about half the first lamp-shade in Blender (BFA Fork), program crashes...

Nice one ! There's some nice textures on this ! Curious, why does LaFemme not cast a shadow in this scene ?

Does cast shadow, but very faint...
