I make a habit of when I get an error to recheck the thread for my post to see if it made the database before the timeout that causes the error, rather then reclicking the submit button. Pretty much every time my post is there.
<br />
<br />
Torm, you could check and see what "timeouts" are available for you to configure and maybe give them a larger value. The downside to that is anyone who experiences the delay will have to wait that much longer for the system to catch up with them.

Thank you Landman, but there is very little things that I can do with godaddy's service, because they want more money to give me some control and the statistics. I'm out of money <img src="https://www.posetteforever.com/images/smiles/dontknow.gif" alt="" /> so I have to suppose... I can only check disk space and bandwidth consumed.

I wonder if you could add an "if/else" statement into the PHP code that when an error occurs, it automatically marks the current thread as read (pardon the rhyme) and redirects the user to the index page... <img src="https://www.posetteforever.com/images/smiles/eusa_think.gif" alt="" />
<br />
<br />
or even if you wanted to get fancy, redirect them to the unread posts page... <img src="https://www.posetteforever.com/images/smiles/eusa_eh.gif" alt="" />

I do know there is a way to mute an error in PHP though. It's actually a security precaution to keep the riff raff out of MySQL. It won't display an error but redirect them back to the index or a 404 error page.

When you set up MySQL & PHP with an Apache web server there is a lot of special configuration that gets missed usually because people just don't know what they are doing.

I thnk that they have a sort of unusual configuration, I had an headache configuring all for the forum to work and sometimes the PHP email doesn't work (you can see the error appear) so I've to switch to the smtp server which has bandwidth limitation <img src="https://www.posetteforever.com/images/smiles/eusa_doh.gif" alt="" /> ... But I think it's better than the old one which was out of order a lot of times (even if they made manteinance during the night, there in the united states, exactly when I'm online...)

you could always set up a linux box online and use that as your own SMTP server... <img src="https://www.posetteforever.com/images/smiles/eusa_think.gif" alt="" />

Yea, I have a Linux partition on my home PC. I use it to send anoymous e-mails from George Bush to my wife. She thinks they have quite the relationship going on.....

It's a good idea... Sooner or later I'll do it, but I need: an expensive adsl router, wireless to connect 3 Pc to the line and an old PC to run a linux partition. Not enough money in my pockets <img src="https://www.posetteforever.com/images/smiles/dontknow.gif" alt="" /> >sigh!< ... I could run the entire site from here but I think that the ping could be very high from there and the speed very low...

HA!!
<br />
<br />
With the power of linux, you can set up an old pc box as a NAT router and use that one to do all your Routing, SMTP serving, Firewalling host your website and anything else. you don't even need a monitor, keyboard or mouse, you can set it all up on the command line. After the innitial instalation of course. All you would need from your ISP is a Static Real World IP. All the other computers on your home network would NAT route out the single IP of your Linux PC.
