The Posette Playground - How many Posette users are there out there

Post subject: How many Posette users are there out there
I am trying to find how many Posette users are out there. What do you think is the precentage of the ones who use Posette who would absolutly refuse to spend money on Posette? I am trying to see if it is worth making stuff for posette. It seems like some people act like posette is history and there is no need to make stuff for her. Will anyone apreciate any time I put into Posette freebies and products? I am not advertising any commerical products here, but do you think it would be worth it to make commercial products and advertise somewhere else.
<br />
I was thinking of trying to make a commercial product which I think would benefit Posette users but I read somewhere that someone thought it won't be worth the effort. I know you would rather have it be a freebie, but I don't know if I can manage it to be a freebie.
<br />
I might just do it just for myself to help me have Posette be more useful for me. I like the fact that she is low res and still pretty. I trying to figure out if it is useful for me to put the effort in. I can't go into detail about it because I think that would cross the border of not talking about commerical.
<br />
I am not trying to break any rules but wonder how many people out there actually would care if I make something for posette, whether it is a freebie or a realivally cheap commerical item.
<br />
<br />
edit:opps accidently put it on poll and there is no poll, because I don't know how to make a poll.

Why is it protrated that there are not many posette users out there or why making things for her is not worth it?

I really don't know <img src="https://www.posetteforever.com/images/smiles/eusa_think.gif" alt="" /> In my opinion the millenium 1 & 2 models have better mapping (but if u use a posette that takes v1 &v 2 mapping that problem is solved), and the mill 3 models have worse mapping.
<br />
For some reason all the mill figures ears are too low and they all share this monkeylook, that is hard to morph away and i'm good at creating morphs.
<br />
For me, i like posette/nea because she is better shaped (especially fingers and feet) and her face is more like a blank canvas wich allows me to me more creative. If u look through varios poser galleries u see that most mill figs look the same, even when morphed. I think some ppl think posette is too much work, when they haven't tried her.
<br />
I only have on thing i don't like about posette/dork and that is their eyes, i can't get them 100% smoothly shaped.
<br />
<br />
I have offered posette freeibes here and at wwww.faeriewylde.com and i have gotten more respons then i expected, especially through pm. Wich at one point got too much for me, wich is why i don't offer as many freebies as i used too.

so she might be something worth working for. Oh for eyes, I use eyes made by Deepblue, unfortunally it is commercial but they look great with Posette. Just need a good skin texture and it helps a lot. I am doing a test render of posette out of the box and then with those eyes. If there was a free version of something like that I don't know of any. if you want I can show renders of posette with those eyes.

I think that another reasons the so many people talk against the stock poser modesl like posette, is because of their own lack of talent or skills. When any artist first starts working with Poser, he or she is lacking in various skills that we develop as we work with it more and more. It does not matter which model or models they use in the beginning. You can see it when you look in anyone's gallery, assuming that the gallery contains their early works. Many beginners start with the models that are shipped with Poser. So then lastter they may purchase or download other models. This often happens when their skills have started to develop just enough. Then when they look back on their early works, they will blame the model they worked with rather than their own lack of skills.
<br />
<br />
Then there is the question of talent. Many artist have it and just as many do not and so they will use other persons talent and call it their own. They can do that with the highly marketed models, like V3. But with Posette, they have to have their talent to make something of quality with her. So, rather than accepting their own lack of talent, they will blame it on Posette.

I've created four figures for Eve 4 Posette, based on real women's faces. I'm looking for helpto host them in free stuff.
<br />
Also, there is definate need for clothing that corresponds to Eve's joint configuration.

I got the email. I don't have anything finished yet. <img src="https://www.posetteforever.com/images/smiles/icon_redface.gif" alt="" /> I did get the email and read it.
<br />
When I first got poser 5 I absolutely refused to buy anything for poser. I used Judy for most of my renders. Actually I used the Poser 4 demo first, which had the dork. I did a few pictures with him. Not renders because I did not know how to render then. Actually I used dynamic hair alot when I started, but fell out of using it. I am thinking posette would be useful. I don't use the p4 children because I have no clothes for them. Neither Poser 5 or 6 comes with clothes for those poor children and with the child guidelines I can't do anything with them until I find clothes for them.
Anonymous [ Monday, 27 March 2006, 06:29 PM ]
Post subject:
There is no clothing for the Poser 2 child. Poser 4 does have some conforming clothing for the P4 girl and boy and infant. Poser 5 has them also along with conforming and dynamic clothing for Will and Penny. Since I don't have Poser 6, and can not speak to what it provides. There was a problem with missing content with some packagings of Poser 6. If you are using Poser 6, this may be why you don't see the clothing for the childern. At content paradise in their free downloads, they have a package that you can download to replace the missing 3D content from Poser 6.

Hi friends, you're free to upload your freebies here, there is enough space and Posette's things are very welcome <img src="https://www.posetteforever.com/images/smiles/thumb.gif" alt="" /> . If you don't know how to do you can ask me or pangor on how to do.

About posette, I used and still use only posette for my female characters. If I'm not wrong I saw only Thilda (Tdac) doing the same <img src="https://www.posetteforever.com/images/smiles/eusa_think.gif" alt="" /> but I've to confess that I didn't watched all her pictures <img src="https://www.posetteforever.com/images/smiles/icon_redface.gif" alt="" /> ...

I made several pics with her, she has some nice facemorphs <img src="https://www.posetteforever.com/images/smiles/eusa_whistle.gif" alt="" /> . I even bought a Poserworld subscription earlier this month to get all of the P4 clothes (ok I will download the other clothes too <img src="https://www.posetteforever.com/images/smiles/lol.gif" alt="" /> )...so there will be more pictures (when my muse comes back <img src="https://www.posetteforever.com/images/smiles/very_sad.gif" alt="" /> ).
<br />
<br />
To answer your question, kaya, yep there's still a demand for Posette and Dork stuff <img src="https://www.posetteforever.com/images/smiles/wink.gif" alt="" /> <img src="https://www.posetteforever.com/images/smiles/wink.gif" alt="" />

I have poserworld subscriptions. I had a runtime for it, but need to reinstall my poser world runtime. I don't have wardobe wizard unless you count the demo, but I don't have many clothes for any of the four that the demo works for. It is always nice to have sources for more clothes.

Poser 6 does have enough clothing for the earlier poser families, but not really enough to be versatile. The content update does add some P4 stuff that was left out.
<br />
<br />
Pangor is correct about new users. I started with Daz Studio and therefore was first introduced to the millenium figures and still tend to use them more because I have a wide variety of stuff for them. With my introduction to PosetteForever, I started using Poser and have been collecting for Posette. Next will be learn how to use all this P4 material.
<br />
<br />
While many concentrate on variations of Posette, I have considered making stuff after my modeling skills improve.

Most dyanmic clothing made for other models will work on Posette. They need a little resizing, and the cloth room can be used to do that.

I nearly always use Posette.
<br />
<br />
At first it was a money thing (the Aussie dollar was very weak against the US back then) and when I started using Poser the Vicky-2 had only just been released and there was still a mass of Posette and Dork stuff available as they were the most advanced, affordable and... only models for a long time.
<br />
<br />
When the Mil figures became so popular with the heavy promotion and the usual excitement for something new, there was a lot of former commercial clothing for the Poser4 figures that was dumped into the freebies section on sites or into huge bulk bundles for a low price.
<br />
<br />
This is where I picked up so much stuff that my poor Victoria is positivly naked in her wardrobe along side the twenty or so CD's of Posette gear in backup.
<br />
<br />
So to get to a very long winded answer. Yes I use Posette and I believe, from what I have seen in various places on the web, that there is still a demand for Posette gear, but it is specialised.
<br />
<br />
It's like parts for older collectable cars. The enthuiasts are still out there, using and buying parts, but you have to find them.

After trying some other free female figures (Mayadoll, etc. ) I allways came back to good old Posette ( <img src="https://www.posetteforever.com/images/smiles/heartbeat.gif" alt="" /> ), and am kind of a purist now.

I even learnt to love her impefection (as Mr. B(i)G would say:"It´s not a bug, it´s a feature.") <img src="https://www.posetteforever.com/images/smiles/lol.gif" alt="" />

Assuming that the Poser 6 runtime is arranged the similar enough to that of Poser 5, look conforming clothing in the character library <b>Clothing- Conforming</b> there are sub libraries for the various stock models including the childern. For dynamic clothing you will find it in the props library <b>Dynamic Clothing</b> each in their own sublibrary <b>Girl</b> for Penny. and clothing props, like baseball caps, the same arrangement in the props library <b>CLothing Props</b>

Wait wait wait!!!! don'tforget me!
<br />
<br />
I pretty much only use posette, not only for rendering but I pretty much only modle for her too. The quiver i made has a morph to fit a whole bunch of diffrent figures but I think that's the only thing i've done that wasn't made for posette.
<br />
<br />
From wat i've seen if you post a freebie it will get snatched up quick. I looked at doing some comercial stuff and asked a lot of the same questions. In the end i found it wasn't woorth while to me to do commercial stuff for posette. NOTICE: I said TO ME. There are reasons for that and most of them simply boil down to time. I don't have enough of it to devote to production, advirtising, and support of commercial products.I even tend to dissapear for long periods of time.
<br />
<br />
<br />
1) while a lot of people still use her there is also a LOT offree stuff for her. People tend not to buy a product if they can find something similar for free. (makes sense to me)
<br />
<br />
2) I really don't have time to provide the support for a commerical product.
<br />
<br />
3) When the mil figures came out almost nothing was free for them .. So people got used to buying stuff for them and the commercial modlers made sure it stayed that way by continuing to keep most mill figuer stuff commercial.
<br />
<br />
4) so many people throw so much general 'junk' in commercial products that commercial stuff is starting to get a REALLY bad rap. There are posts all overthe net complaining about how everyone who figures out how to use the brightness/contrast, hue/saturation, and colour balance functions in photoshop releases a "texture set" commercial package. There are some good commercial products out there don't get me wrong. but theres a lot of junk and just colour tweeked stuff too.
<br />
<br />
So i decided i was going to do free stuff for posette and do it so well i put the commercial 'junk makers' to shame. That was just my stance on it though.
<br />
<br />
Doing a commercial product amy work out for you. ESPECIALLY if it's something new and there isn't a freebie that does something similar.

I also agree with many of the above statements. Posette is the best looking stock figure. Yes you can use morphs and such to make them look better. I'm talking about body form not details.
<br />
<br />
Posette does take a good bit of work to get the details that make her absolutely stunning. You have to do a bit of face morphing. And learn what looks good together ect. Anything other than basic form you either have to make a morph for (i stink at making morphs) or find someone who as made what you are looking for.
<br />
<br />
A lot of people like the mill figures because they are so push button. These days go get vivky 3, go buy her face and body morphs. go buy a "character" pack which is usually a texture map set, and pre-tuned morphs from the daz morph sets. (ok ok sometimes there are custom morophs), Go buy soemones light set, and some one elses background image set, and don't forget a 'pinup pose' pack. throw it all in poser. click the buttons to dump it in, and voila you have a nude vicky in a temple with a sword! <img src="https://www.posetteforever.com/images/smiles/rolleyes.gif" alt="" />

<img src="https://www.posetteforever.com/images/smiles/lol.gif" alt="" /> <img src="https://www.posetteforever.com/images/smiles/lol.gif" alt="" /> I can only agree with what you said mordikar, here it's common sense ! I don't know exactl why but the stock posette has some kind of "right proportions" that other models don't have: when I saw the stock Vicky 2 I said "what is this thing?". I liked and still like her a lot (if not this place wouldn't exist <img src="https://www.posetteforever.com/images/smiles/eusa_whistle.gif" alt="" /> ) also because of the "free stuff" and free material that was around her in the age when I began with poser. In that period it was easy to collect tons of resources for her and the dork and do the first pictures. But using commercial product all has to be bought if you want something made with quality. Thank you mordikar for your work with Posette and obviously thank you to all of you friends <img src="https://www.posetteforever.com/images/smiles/TFR718 (6).gif" alt="" /> If it was for the firms and sites around Poser and 3d art Posette would be forgotten <img src="https://www.posetteforever.com/images/smiles/nicetongue.gif" alt="" /> <img src="https://www.posetteforever.com/images/smiles/nicetongue.gif" alt="" /> <img src="https://www.posetteforever.com/images/smiles/nicetongue.gif" alt="" /> <img src="https://www.posetteforever.com/images/smiles/nicetongue.gif" alt="" /> <img src="https://www.posetteforever.com/images/smiles/nicetongue.gif" alt="" /> <img src="https://www.posetteforever.com/images/smiles/nicetongue.gif" alt="" /> !!!

Kaya, there is a market for good quality items for Posette & Dork, free or commercial if the price is right. I don't mind paying for something if I know it's good.
<br />
In my opinion, here are a few things which I think she could use:
<br />
1. Morphs to correct some of her problem areas (knees, butt @ severe bends, to name a couple).
<br />
2. Textures are always welcome.
<br />
3. Clothing styles to correspond with different periods in history.
<br />
4. Everyday props, i.e. buildings, cars, furniture.
<br />
5. Anything which helps make her more photorealistic!
<br />
<br />
Most of the best things I've found for her have been free. <img src="https://www.posetteforever.com/images/smiles/eusa_clap.gif" alt="" />
