Hi, I took a look at the registration procedure for a channel at the irc network. It is very complicated, but I think it could be a good idea. In the meantime I have created the channel (#posetteforever) on irc. I'm not an expert, if there are experts their help will be appreciated a lot (a kiss on the <img src="https://www.posetteforever.com/images/smiles/pottytrain2.gif" alt="" /> from me is the prize)

Well, first off.. on what server is the channel on? <img src="https://www.posetteforever.com/images/smiles/eusa_pray.gif" alt="" />

I used to chat on Undernet (IRC) for a number of years, and had my own channel on there as well. I can't remember how to reg for a channel, I think my ex helped me figure it all out. The only reason to have it reg is to keep a bot in there so it's open all the time and others can't take control of it. So it is a good idea to have it reg. I haven't chatted much on IRC in the last couple of years so I don't know which server(net) is best...before undernet was pretty good, but there may be a lot more now and a lot of better ones. From my experience, undernet is several hundred years behind in computer-time.. I idle on Gamesnet mostly nowadays, but that place is plagued with netsplitts and other mailfunctions. You'd think the servers are about to give up. <br /> Think I'd recommend Quakenet as a server atm... although I'm no irc wiz, so I'll ask a friend of mine with a bit more clue than me <img src="https://www.posetteforever.com/images/smiles/eusa_think.gif" alt="" />

Well like I said, I haven't done much chatting on irc in awhile...I pop into a channel called #Oregon on undernet from time to time where I used to be an op there. Other than that I haven't been on in a long time. I used to use Dalnet some, and another one I can't remember the name of, but if you know someone who's using irc they may be able to give us a better idea of what net to use Deviant. are you using a program like mirc or pirch to log onto irc? Or is it a website your using? I prefer to use pirch or mirc when chatting on IRC <br /> Yes if you don't reg the channel it will go away when your not in there. Once you reg it, you get a bot that will hold the channel open and you will control the bot which gives you options like being able to ban people, make others ops, and stuff like that. Well, I've never heard of the server your using. It seems pretty new to me. <br /> Talked with some people, and they'd recommend gamesnet, since people tend to be more friendly over there. Quakenet seems more stable, but it's been awhile since I've spendt any time on there. <img src="https://www.posetteforever.com/images/smiles/eusa_think.gif" alt="" /> <br /> But if you're going with your current server or find a new one is up to you

I IRC my ass off, and op in #Texas on Undernet. I try to stay away from smaller servers/nets due to instability and variances in the basic protocols. Gaming networks tend to have a lot of script kiddies portscanning you on join so I stay away from those too. I'll pop on webmaster and check it out though. <br /> Why do we not use the chat interface here, just curious. Another major problem I see is that some of us are in a normal timezone (me) and others are half a world away (you) =P heheh <br /> BTW, if you hop on Undernet and wanna chat dirty with me, I go by [MrB] and will be sitting in #Texas harassing the foreigners (anyone not in/from Texas) <img src="https://www.posetteforever.com/images/smiles/wink.gif" alt="" />

I'm in that server for about two years and never had problems. Anyway I think about an irc channels for posetteforever users and friends of them. An irc channel is more useful thath the chat I've installed here. <br /> <br /> I've to keep the channel open myself because to have a robot ten users have to send an email to the admins of the server. But it's not a problem, I bought a flat connection and the next month I leave the pc online 24h a day <img src="https://www.posetteforever.com/images/smiles/biggrin.gif" alt="" />

I'll be happy to give ya at least one or two valid email addresses if that helps. I believe they refuse any web-based email addresses (yahoo, hotmail) if they're anything like Undernet's Cservice. I have 5 email addresses with my satellite access account, I think that's supposed to make me feel better about paying out the ass for broadband access. I know one thing, a botted channel is the only way to go, it prevents takeover attempts and makes things run a lot smoother as well as eliminates the need to stay on 24/7. Even good reliable access craps out sometimes, either from the server or weather related stuff. <br /> I'm sure at least a few more peeps here at PosetteForever would also volunteer their address. *looks at the regulars/moderators* <img src="https://www.posetteforever.com/images/smiles/eusa_whistle.gif" alt="" />

tormie, <br /> <br /> i dunno if you've spent time on my site, but digital hippies has it's own irc server, we run it out of our apartment actually, it's up 24/7 with the occasional 1-2 hours of downtime each month with we do maintaince and upgrades. we currently run 6-7 different rooms, so its never bogged down or laggy. if you're interested i could ask hash about setting something up for you, maybe he could plug a couple of bots in there for you too. <br /> <br /> we're both on IRC and in the DH room nearly 24/7, heh, so i think it would be cool as hell to get to chat with you guys. <img src="https://www.posetteforever.com/images/smiles/biggrin.gif" alt="" />
