How can I examine an *.CR2 file? Maybe using some text editor? The only thing I like in V3 is the mesh and the texture maps. By the way, is there Posette remapped to take V3 textures ? I have a lot of V3 textures... somewhere. (I downloaded them because I think they were V2 textures. ) V3 has a million face polygons , so it'll be easy to make some morphs. I think people who made V3 are very good modelers. Well , people who made Posette are excellent modelers , but I can't make a figure like V3.

Try searching Renderosity's for "CR2" and "edit". Then as you say, you can use a text editor, since CR2, HR2, PP2, etc are text files. Poser accepts textfiles with both CR/LF (Dos/Windows) and CR (Mac) line terminations so any method you use may have to take into account the different line terminations that you may encounter. (I have not tried unix new line terminations yet.)

erenda";p="17464 wrote:

By the way, is there Posette remapped to take V3 textures ?

I have found a remapping of Posette to take Victoria textures and the reverse as well. But that was for V1 and V2, not V3. Since V3 is a unimesh model her native texture maps are not compatible with the way that V1 and V2 are mapped. There may be a posette remap for unimesh trextures; however, so far I have not found it.

erenda";p="17464 wrote:

I think people who made V3 are very good modelers. Metacreations, who owned Poser when Poser 4 was first release and contracted with Zygote to make the P4 models. Zygote also make V1 and M1. Zygote, then spun off their department that had produced those models. That spin off became DAZ.

Pangor

Hi all
A good text editor is the most important tool on every PC

The one, I use is called Proton and is an open source Project
It has advanced search and replace and you can choose the way of line termination (win, mac, unix)
It´s at: http://www.meybohm.de/

another good one with the additional option of file comparison (very helpful)
at: http://www.pspad.com/

both freeware, of course

Thanks ahjah.

I have never found any that I felt comfortable with under Windows. Currently my two favorite text editors are joe and vi with pico bringing up the rear. But I and not too sure about the versions of those editors that have been ported to Windows, and I don't use Windows enough for anything other than games and art to make it practicle to overlay Windows with unix compatibility code.

Thank You.
Pangor

The low poly version of V3 is provided for free as a part of the base contents for DAZ Studio, but it is in Studio's format and can not be used with Poser. For the remainder of this year, the full resolution base version of both V3 and M3 are available from DAZ as almost free downloads. They are free but rather being included on the free downloads page, they are in their regular store pages listed at full price with a 100% discount. Therefore, you would have to go through the purchase process. For download, yor total cost will be zero, if you want them to ship you a copy on CD, then their normal shipping fees will be charged. Without purchasing several addon packages, the full versions of V3 and M3 are not a useful as the reduced resolution versions.

If anyone knows of a link for a legal, free download of V3RR useable in Poser, I also would appreciate the information.

Pangor

The V3RR that I came I got as part of the base content for DAZ Studio, came with more builtin morphs than the full resolution V3 Base.

Pangor

Ah yes! I see what your saying now. Your right but its just there way of nailing the lid on the coffin. Buy some of it and have to use it all. I think too it may be because it is still in the experiment stage with Studio that they have put a little more to check out the bugs for the 1.0. I am not sure but just for the record do you know if it can transfer animation with Poser information from Daz/Studio to Bryce as of yet? Or another question can you transfer Bryce into Daz/Studio?

As far as I know, the only Bryce to Studio transfers that work reliably (most of the time) are those items that are exported from bryce as Wavefront objects and image files, I suppose.

Pangor

Thanks Pangor. I had the mover for Bryce to import Poser models from Daz/Studio to Bryce but never heard if an animation was possible to export with the Poser character.

For transfers from Poser or Studio to Bryce, I have been using Grouper. For some Poser figures it helpful to import the PZ3/PZZ into Studio, when Studio is working, and export it as an OBJ and then use Grouper to tidy things up a bit. For situation where Studio had trouble, I will export the OBJ from Poser and pass it through Grouper.

Grouper is a utility that read wavefront OBJ file and their matching MTL files. It will examine the textures used and regroup the object so that all parts of the model that use a single texture will be grouped together. This is very handy when sending a model from Poser to Bryce, because for example, in Bryce you will now have only a single group that contains all the parts of the model that use a skin texture rather than having to deal with hip, abdomen, chest, right shoulder, etc. rather. Grouper will also rewite the mtl so that references to a BUm file will be replace with a reference to a BMP or JPG file. The latter versions can also fix some problems in an OBJ file and it can also gather the texture maps that a model uses together from where Poser or other software has them into a single directory; that way if you place the new obj and mtl files into the same directory, Byrce will be able to find the texture maps without you having to manually locate each of them for Bryce. Alse the names that groups used for material groups are nicer to work with than how Poser exports them.

My pet peeve with Poser exports that grouper can not fix, is that Poser will not export tranmap details into the MTL file. But thanks to the work grouper has already done, it is much more easy to fix within Bryce than if grouper had not been used.

It is available as freeware and you can download a copy from its tutorial page on its home website, "Cast Iron Flamingo": http://www.castironflamingo.com/tutorial/grouper/index.html This page is a tutorial but is mostly an explaination of the benefits of the program, the page also has the download links for both versions 1.3 and 1.4r1.

Pangor
