There are a couple of free figures around, one is from an unlikely place (well it surprised me).

First there is Anime Girl Kristen, in the Barracks from Schells (it is commercial like Daz3d, but no registration is required to download any of the freebies have a look around, some are repeated on ShareCG).

Second we have Cynthia (version 1, free base), she is available from BVH3D.com, the site is under construction, and I think download is also possible from Renderosity, where other free items are available for her. BVH, specialises in low poly figures (less than 50k poly count for Cynthia), and make BDSM fetish wear/ ware for them, so expect her to have a hard life. The free version 1 Cynthia base, has morphs missing so she is more like a trial version.

Just an update, you can now go and download the free base (trial) version of Cynthia.
