Post How I Started With POSER

#1  manuelchocano Yesterday at 01:15

I still remember that in the year 2000, a friend who was a systems engineer, Pablo, another friend, ?lvaro, and I planned to create a video game. We wanted to replicate one of our hobbies, but living in a third-world country, the options to achieve it were very limited. The necessary software simply wasn?t available in my country, Guatemala.

One day, Pablo got a pirated copy of Poser 4. Yes, pirated. In that context, in countries like ours, it was practically impossible to get the software legally, and even if we could, it would have been virtually impossible to afford it.

My role in the company we dreamed of was to write the game, of course, an RPG. Poser helped me as a tool to imagine and design characters, even though it was Poser 4 vanilla, with many limitations. We didn?t have access to much information, nor did we have the opportunity to download free content.

In 2004, Pablo passed away. The video game project ended, and each of us went on with our lives. However, Poser remained a hobby for me. Over the years, I?ve used Poser 4, 6, 8, Pro 12, and I finally managed to buy an original copy of Poser 11. I could finally afford it!

About 10 years ago, I felt the need to find content for the classic Poser 4 figures, Dork and the beautiful Posette, but it turned out to be quite a challenge. That?s how I found this amazing website, full of creative and friendly people.

This is my story with Posette: it began when I was 22 years old, and today, at 47, I still enjoy this hobby.

Greetings from the waist of the American continent!

Here?s a fragment of the story I wrote back then, which was meant to be the lore of the game.

Without darkness, there is no light,
Without darkness, the fire cannot shine,
Nor can water reflect the sky.
Without shadow, the seed bears no fruit.
The air travels fiercely through the dark night,
But the shadow walks hidden paths,
Sailing on silent, black seas.
(Beginning of the Dark Hymn of Morazem, Ec Alum 4979 A.C.K.)

Morazem, whose father was a dark elf and Count of Flesanem, ancient Serum, and whose mother was a human Vindagorian slave, was, by virtue of his mixed lineage and human mother, ineligible to succeed his father as Count under elven tradition. Despite this, Morazem was cherished by his father, who saw potential in securing him a prominent position. At the age of six, Morazem was sent to Rew, home to Ormun?s most renowned school and dark temple at the time.
Legends speak of an encounter on his journey, where Belial himself appeared to Morazem without uttering a word:

"Fear not, child of shadows, for you are one of the countless who form the innumerable." (Hymn of Darkness 1:6)

Morazem described Belial as a demon, human-sized, draped in a black robe from which ancient script emerged. His appearance was not terrifying; his visage was calm yet alien. With horns atop his head and a pungent scent of sulfur, Belial left an unforgettable mark. (Hymn of Darkness 1:10?12)

The encounter ended with Belial carving a black serpent-shaped scar into Morazem?s chest, declaring:

"You shall be the herald of the shadowed world, the dawn of darkness. Living beings shall tremble at your name, and mortals will curse you and your kin." (Hymn of Darkness 1:13)

Morazem?s life predated Kalavaam's current dynasty by five millennia. His formative years at the Rewonont school immersed him in dark arts. By the age of twelve, he was performing human sacrifices at the Temple of the Seven Horns in Thalantir.
Morazem authored the Manual of Sacrifices, detailing not only the rituals of human sacrifice but also the "nutritional virtues of corpse flesh" and the magical potency of blood. One of its most haunting passages reads:

"Behold, these are the mortal children of light.
Feed them, care for them, and clothe them well.
Let them be desirable in their sacrifice,
For the day of Belial?s feast.
May Belial rejoice at the banquet,
For mortals belong to him,
And his mouth is their final shroud."

Morazem's talent soon marked him as an exception to the rule that half-breeds could not master complex sorcery. He was capable of conjuring a dark blade that could sever limbs effortlessly, impervious to any armor.
