Hi, I was looking for an easy explanation of bump mapping, came across this...
http://viz.aset.psu.edu/gho/sem_notes/color_3d/index.html
Okay, it is 'general purpose' rather than Poser, so does not cover eg P4's bump-map 90' offset etc, but nice to know what's happening 'under the hood'. If sub-links baulk, press 'refresh' as their server seems slow.
FWIW, Morphography has an interesting tut on P4 bump maps' 90' twist, scroll down...
http://www.morphography.uk.vu/tutorials.html
Which may fit with gimp 10.2 in Filters section...
on-line...

Given my ignorance plus P4's 90' twist, 'tis not surprising the geisha wig I reworked came out looking so very odd...

Um, I'm just about to go wrap the last of the gifts: Had a bad moment earlier when we *forgot* where we'd hidden some...
( What am I getting ?? The usual-- A migraine !! )
D'uh, I think I'll have some supper first...
Merry Christmas & Happy New Year, and may your 2008 be better than 2007.
