Subject: Experimental software installed
Hi

I just installed a software on the board that will stop all the users that connect to the site hiding their ip addresses (spoofing), a technique used mainly by comment spammers . This is an experiment and I'll turn it on and off controlling what happens and if I can use it or not. This is because I know that a lot of you are using legitimate proxies, for example when you connect to the site while at work  . Well, i can exclude those ip addresses from the list, if you've seen the message that you're blocked, there is an email address included that is where you can directly contact me.

P.S. you can test it going to one of those anonymizer sites, come here and try to click some links...

Maybe it's cos of this "experimental software"
My AntiVirus alerts :shocked!:

Subject: Re: Experimental software installed
? When you come to the site ? that's strange , my Kaspersky ( :notworthy: ) says nothing.... Can you check the content of this file with your antivirus ? (it's the software that I installed). I think it's an alert not related to PF , As far as I know ...

Subject: Re: Experimental software installed
Hi Davide :hug2:
I'm still having the trojan install alert on start page after login
I checked the files you sent me with my antivirus ( free antivir by Avira, dayly signature updates :thumb: ), but no reaction.
Actually nothing there, maybe it's simply the way this software works.
My AV software didn't react on an actual found malware by comparison with it's database. It reacted on "heuristic" search. It kind of recognises virus' and trojans by the way they work. This is implemented for recognizing malware that's not even known yet. A very clever software
Your software runs in an invisible Iframe and is running code, a technique often used by malware.
Maybe it also reacts on the proxy check because a trojan installer would check for a proxy, too :mmmh: ...
Actually our front page is behaveing suspicious to my virus scanner :D

Subject: Re: Experimental software installed
Yes, actually this program works on an invisible iframe, but if it's the problem I'll try to make it visible in some way... It's a nice piece of software that I hope will help me with the time I've to spend with spammers. I'll see what i can do asking the author, or I'll uninstall it...

Subject: Re: Experimental software installed
I asked for assistance. In the meanwhile I made the iframe of 1 pixel instead of 0 pixel, so it's no more "invisible" ... I don't know if something change but...

Hi Davide
Sorry to say my virus protection still reacts. I think its the proxy scan itself that causes reaction.
I'll have to live with clicking the alert away. The scan itself seems to be made by a java applet.
Opera browser is able to save individual settings for every page so I could disable java applets on PF, but I don't want to.
Maybe then I cannot get in at all :mmmh:
IF the page lets me in anyway, the software will not be much help against serious spammers, because they would have any scripting deactivated anyway (for their own protection). On the other hand you'd keep normal surfers out who simply are careful and surf safe... :eh: :mmmh:
I'll try...

Subject: Re: Experimental software installed
Oh, don't worry. If I'll have no solution from the author I'll uninstall it soon..

Subject: Re: Experimental software installed
Changing my browser's security settings didn't change anything.
I could get used to getting a trojan alert for welcome when coming home :lmao:

Subject: Re: Experimental software installed
:sorry: Well, don't worry Andreas, the site should not have those kind of warning. I won't uninstall it immediatly because I'm lazy  and will wait some hours for the authors reply...

Subject: Re: Experimental software installed
Now you should not see the alert anymore, I talked with the author and removed the code, he said he will work to a solution in the next days. He said:

I'll try to, in the next few days, install Avira and see if I can figure out a workaround. Maybe it'll work if the size is 1x1? Maybe it'll work if I set the margin-left to -3000px (not even sure if that'd work on frames)?

Anyway, I'll see what I can find out. Like I said, though, it'll take a few days. I don't want to install yet another antivirus client on the computer I'm currently on (I only have one installed; installing two on the same machine is a bit much for me).

Yes friends, all back to normal for me, now. :D
I see little chances thou to make the proxy scan compatible if antivir interpretes this scan itself as preperation for an intrusion... :eh:
