:) :lmao:
Ok, I installed Kubuntu and passed some sweet hours with it.
I managed to settle the configurations (even my wireless card) , all runs fine and updated
problems with Wine and Poser, sometimes it runs, sometimes not. Actually it is not working (when I try to move something the inside screen disappears)
I tried all kind of different configurations but actually I failed :sorry:
I'll test it again tomorrow or later ( :lazy: )

Ok so what you are saying is you had to get the WINE software for Poser
to even come close to work and it is not in the Kubuntu package. What WINE operation did you get and can you point
me to the site? :ninja: This is very interesting by the way. :D

Ubutnu/Kubuntu makes a plain installation, then it has an automatic upgrading utility, I've it translated in italian, however you find it in the programs menu it's "Add/Remove programs". You have a quick search box, type in it "wine", select it and it will install. Now you can directly install Windows programs by clicking on them, there is also a configuration utility that comes with wine and i found a Winescript that tricks a little the program (winth not much luck...)
You find the .wine (hideen directory) under /home/(your name)/.wine
here it is a windows subdirectory, then also a fonts subdirectory.
I noticed that moving there the fonts that you find in the usual /windows/fonts directory make the installation work better...
BTW with Add/Remove programs you can directly install a lot of programs like Blender, firefox, gimp etc.
About the Wine windows emulation you can find documentation, faq and a forum here

About Poser, Now it is working but as I said I'll have to learn more.
Actually it is a little slower then the one in Windows, I think it's due to the linux video Driver. I installed the accelerated 3D driver for Ati Cards but I need to find something better.
I'm going to try it with games :yoyo:
I'll let you know.

An add, I'm trying to render a complicate scene using 4 separate threads together, that was impossible in windows and Poser 7 (I've to use only one) . And it is working :uuh: ...

Very interesting Davide. Keep going. :thumb:

I just fu**d up my Kubuntu trying to trick with ATI drivers :crybaby: ....
I've to begin from scratch... I want to use Ubuntu instead, rayera says it's lighter...

:sign2: I didn't dare trying to install Poser, yet. I'm simply happy to have a working system and being able to access all my data, for now. There's a lot to learn. I'm messing with the restrictive rights management, still. :D
I installed Opera (generic linux) to find out there's i.e. no flash player supported by macromedia for opera@linux so I have to use one of firefox's family browser for the web to work.
All the common stuff, multi media and www works very well. the rest will come step by step ....

They are already built in, but I wanted to have more

Yes Tormie, but is not Ubuntu that is lighter but the basic X that is Gnome, is less beautiful and Mac OS like, but lighter.

Next question? Not many people express themselves the way you do.
Subject: Re: Poser and Linux ?!?
I did some test in my Ubuntu and I can install and run Poser 7 and Daz Studio 1.8.2.1 not newer versions of DS nor Poser 5 or 6 :) I'm using Wine 0.9.59 in Ubuntu 8.04 Hardy Heron
