Post Does Poser's Registration Key Work For Mac AND PC?

I'm going to take advantage of the cheap sidegrade price to Poser Pro 2010, and I want to get the physical hybrid disk instead of the download.  Does anyone know if I can use the same key I'll be issued with on Mac as well as PC, or do I have to buy separate copies for each OS?

I ask because my iMac is currently idle at the moment, and I'd like to try out a Mac version of Poser... but because all my content is set up on PC... (you can see where this is going)

I don't want to pay twice for the same software if I can avoid it.  Push comes to shove, I'll just get the PC version, but it would be nice to be able to experiment on a Mac.

Ehm... No, I'm sorry Groucho... Keys are linked to the specific version.

Maybe the smartest move is to buy the Mac Version, because Macs can read the NTFS disks (and can even write on them using some free applications like NTFS 3G), while reading and writing a Mac formatted disk on a PC can be done only buying a specific program.

In any case you can share the runtime and the subfolder of any Poser product, there is no difference if not when you've to open an installer that is made for a PC, you need an emulator on a Mac, it costs some bucks.

Well, here is an interesting update... It seems as if the Poser Pro series WILL let you use a single key for either Mac or PC versions.

I've just installed Pro 2010 onto both of my Macs and onto my CGI tower to compare rendering speeds...

This image...

 Image

Renders as follows:

MacBook Pro 2.26 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo / 2 Gb 1067 Mhz DDR3 - 51 seconds

24" iMac 8 2.8 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo / 4 Gb 800 Mhz DDR2 - 30 seconds

"Willow" PC 2.66 CHz Intel Core 2 Quad / 4 Gb 800 Mhz DDR2 - 19.8 seconds

Each speed measurement was done after preloading all textures, with Firefly render settiings at maximum and with "re-use shadow maps" on, measured after 4 renders back to back on each machine.  To be absolutely certain each image was identical I ran them through Adobe photoshop's difference filter afterwards, and they are identical.

I'll also install Pro 2010 onto my i7 gaming beast later on today just to see if that is any faster...

It is interesting to note that although both my Macs are 64-bit, and running Snow Leopard, Pro 2010 seems to be running 32-bit only on my Macs.  "Willow" is running Pro 2010 at 64-bit, which may go some way to explaining why it is so fast.

Oh, the Creech character comes with Pro 2010... nice looking fella, ain't he?

I'm pretty sure that Poser 8 on my "mac" (hackintosh) runs faster than the PC counterpart...

My comparison could say something on the speed of the two version because they run on the same hardware... (you could do the same using bootcamb on the Macs)

I've not pro 2010... Anyway, I'll do some tests too and we could even compare if we use stock figures and the same scene...

I'll let you know...
